On Tuesday, June 11, 2014, Consolidated Credit Counseling Services of Canada held our Annual Meeting on our Educational Initiatives at the Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel. A crowd of Consolidated Credit stakeholders, including clients, graduates, creditors, educational partners, counsellors, credit counselling agencies and the media were in attendance.
Guests were treated to presentations from executive director Jeff Schwartz; community outreach team leader, Phil Wilkins, who spoke of the hundreds of free financial education seminars he conducts across Canada each year; and March of Dimes instructor, Janene Robinson, who explained her organization’s educational partnership with Consolidated Credit and it’s impact.
The highlight of the event, however, was undoubtedly the emotional speeches delivered by two courageous graduates of our debt management program, Gwynneth and Kelly. They both shared their personal triumphs of overcoming financial struggles. A key takeaway from their moving words was the new financial habits and skills they acquired that will help them avoid a reoccurrence of debt problems in the future. Gwynneth and Kelly both credited the patience, guidance and support of Consolidated Credit as what made their journey to debt freedom possible. It was extremely gratifying for all stakeholders to see the impact of their work and support in helping consumers get back on track.
We are already looking forward to our 2015 meeting and hope you’ll be able to attend.
